COVID-19 Update – 29 April, 2020

What an unbelievable time and what unbelievable sacrifices the profession has made since the Alert 4 lockdown.  We have had so many calls and emails from physiotherapists struggling with the restrictions – the financial, personal and professional stresses are huge.  Our hearts go out to you and those around you who are impacted by this pandemic.

PPE resurces released

The Ministry of Health has released further advice on PPE for health care workers. Their frequently asked questions poster is here and their guidelines for use poster is here.

Free HR Advice and Services

We have been informed of an organisation providing Free HR advice and services during this time – Humankind.

We received the following information if you wish to contact them:

The New Zealand Government recognises professional HR support is critical for many organisations to survive in this current environment. If you are a privately held organisation with fewer than 50 employees, you may be eligible, under the Regional Business Partner Network, for funding to support your HR needs during this time, to the value of $2,500. If you want to see more about the services provided by Humankind, head to www.humanityatwork.nz. To find out if you are eligible for this funding email [email protected].

There are plenty of people with advice at times like this.  A physiotherapist whom we were talking with mentioned a Stuff article from Tony Alexander (formerly BNZ’s Chief Economist).  He has shared tips for surviving the pandemic from a business sense.  He has a number of articles so look him up via Stuff if you are interested in what he has to say.

In reflecting about this terrible time we are in – are there positives?  We have found a few. There are people in our communities who we see in a different light – the young man at Pak n Save where I collect my groceries for example. He is so cheerful, helpful and gives his time to those who look like they need someone to notice them.

And with Anzac Day just passed we are asked to reflect on heroes of the past who fought for our freedom and liberty.  There are so many heroes we are now seeing through this pandemic – for us you are our today heroes for the sacrifice you are making now in keeping us, our family, whānau and the ones special in our lives safe.  Thank you.

As always we ask that you keep safe and keep connected to us.  We are a little team who have buckets of commitment and an absolute willingness to assist you in any way we can.  We will keep up our communications so please contact us by calling on +64 4 471 2610 or emailing us at [email protected] if you have any queries – we are very happy to assist you.
