Strategic Plan
The Physiotherapy Board (the Board) is the regulatory body for Physiotherapists, established under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act).

Strategic Principles
The principal purpose of this Act is to protect the health and safety of members of the public by providing for mechanisms to ensure that health practitioners are competent and fit to practise their professions. The Physiotherapy Board acknowledges Māori as tāngata whenua of Aotearoa; it honours the principles of partnership, protection, and participation as an affirmation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. In all its capacities and functions the Board seeks to protect the health and safety of Māori and Tauiwi equitably.

Purpose
The Physiotherapy Board is the statutory body which sets standards, monitors and promotes competence, continuing professional development and proper conduct for the practice of physiotherapy in the interests of public health and safety.
