Wellington remains at COVID-19 alert level 2

Minister Chris Hipkins announced today that Cabinet has extended the COVID-19 alert level 2 status for the greater Wellington region for another 48 hours. This will allow for more COVID-19 testing results to inform the next decision by Cabinet.

This means:

  • The Wellington region (Wellington, Wairarapa and Kāpiti Coast) will remain at COVID-19 alert level 2, and continue to practise under level 2
  • The rest of New Zealand remain at COVID-19 alert level 1.

At this stage, these levels will be in place until 11:59pm on Tuesday, 29 June.

We will continue to update you on any further changes.
