being aware of all legislation affecting the everyday practice of
a physiotherapist.
Take particular note of the Health
Practitioners Competence Assurance Act, 2003 and the Board’s
competency requirements. |

Standards of Ethical Conduct |
The Board has produced Standards
of Ethical Conduct. All physiotherapists are urged to apply
the principles and intent of the Standards of Ethical Conduct in
all aspects of their professional practice.

Privacy Code |
Physiotherapists are required to be aware of the Health Information
privacy code (released under the Privacy Act 1993).
The code can be purchased from the Office
of the Privacy Commissioner, or from Government Bookshops.

Code of Consumers’ Rights |
Physiotherapists are required to be aware of the Health Consumers
code of rights (released under the Health and Disability Commissioner
Act 1994).
The purpose of the Act is to promote and protect the rights of all
health consumers, and to facilitate the fair, speedy, and efficient
resolution of complaints relating to the infringements of the rights
covered in the Code.
The Act establishes a range of complaint resolutions such as advocacy,
mediation, and formal disciplinary hearings before the Complaints
Review Tribunal or the Physiotherapy Board.
