The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA)

The Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (HPCA) was passed into law on 18 September 2003. It replaces the Physiotherapy Act 1949 but will not come into force until 18 September 2004.

HPCA will alter the environment in which you operate insofar as there are a number of new provisions such as competence assurance, review and programmes and a prescribed disciplinary process.

This page will be regularly updated by the Board and will contain information of relevance to all practitioners. It is recommended that you periodically visit the page to keep up to date.
