These are the Board's four standing committees:
Accreditation Committee:
This committee develops and implements an audit system for accredited
training schools. The system provides an objective and reliable process,
assuring the Board that New Zealand physiotherapy graduates meet the
competencies required for registration.
Administration Committee:
This committee develops a recommended budget, monitors expenditure
and attends to matters concerning the Board’s administration.
Registration Committee:
The Registration Committee and the pool of assessors who report to the
committee:
- Consider and make recommendations on applications, from overseas
educated physiotherapists, for registration as a physiotherapist in
New Zealand, under the Physiotherapy Act 1949, Health Practitioners
Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCAA) and the Trans-Tasman Mutual
Recognition Act 1997 (TTMRA).
- Consider and make recommendations on applications from as yet unregistered
physiotherapists who were educated in New Zealand in the past and
gained a qualification that no longer meets the requirements of Section
12(2)(b) of the HPCA Act 2003.
Competence Committee:
The Competence Assurance Committee is charged with attending to all matters
relating to practitioner competence and fitness to practise. This includes
developing and reviewing policies for
practitioner
re-certification, recognition or approval of professional providers the
assessment of risk of harm and attendant guidelines for employers and
the profession.
Competency Review Committee
(Ad Hoc committee):
The Competency Review Committee is charged with developing and, from
time to time, reviewing, the competencies required for those seeking
registration. This includes ensuring that the competencies are identified
in a way that allows evaluation in both the accreditation of schools
and the assessment of overseas-educated physiotherapists.
